What Is a Fireplace Inspection?

A fireplace inspection involves evaluating the readily accessible components of a fireplace to identify visible conditions that may affect safety, functionality, or performance. During a fireplace inspection, I inspect the visible masonry, firebox, hearth, damper, lintel, and surrounding components for signs of damage, deterioration, excessive wear, moisture intrusion, and other observable defects. When I identify these conditions before a real estate transaction closes, I help buyers better understand the condition of the fireplace and potential future repair needs.
